Should I try the 480 GTX ? yay or nay?

anyone here got any idea on the nVidia 480 GTX ? my current setup of the 460 and 260 cards are a bit too cramped up together causing some heat issues for me, and since I found out that we have a few gigabyte 480GTX's left; I was thinking to replace my current setup with just one card?

    some feedback would be appreciated

    cheers

SLI is always power hungry and generates way too much heat .Single cards are always a better option .But i doubt if the 480 GTX would exactly match the power of 460+260.(both are good performers )
    Names are pretty ,but useless.

I need another way to cool the cards, As soon as I use the 260GTX, my GTX 460 starts overheating, no matter if I place it on top or bottom!!! Any ideas ?

I have heard the GTX480 has bad overclockablity due to the heat.

The cooling on the GTX480, is it similar to the 260GTX? (some kind of a Vapor Chamber?) And would using the 260GTX with the 480GTX bottle neck it?

GTX480 is a utter crap GPU, if u don't count its performance.
Consumps much more power than 5970/4870X2/2900XT, creates noise like a truck, produces even more heat needed to make a chicken-roast, and price is super-crazy.

On the other hand, GTX570 is a great GPU in price : performance, performs better than GTX480, consumps wayy less power, doesn't creates much heat/noise. In a word, it's one of those GPU's on the market, which can be recommended to buy, IMO.

Btw, I have very little idea about GTX560-Ti, it performs same as GTX470, and it's much better than GTX470.

How is the 5950 ? any suggestions ? is it a dual GPU card?

I was thinking to just pickup one of the GTX480 we had in the store and maybe use the 260GTX with it for physx, the GTX460 - sure, good performance, just not the best cooling..

Finally decided to try out the GTX480 not as bad as most people put it, I am surprised actually..seems to run much cooler & quitter then the GTX460..I’ll probably pickup another GTX480 to try how good they scale in SLI..– here’s a small unbiased review - http://forums.tomorrowsgaming.com/sh...w&goto=newpost .

I'll also put up a guide how to lap it, checkout the modding section
