    motherboard buying advice

Well i m here today with some mobo buying advice tips.. ornithologist personally asked me to open this thread long ago i m sorry about the late..now lets go to the topic

Motherboard is the main thing in the whole computer..it is a heart of a pc... it holds all ur cpu components and integrate them properly.. so buying a good motherboard is essential as it will determine what kind of components u can use in ur cpu...i mean the types of the cpu or ram or even the graphics card- all are determined by the type of the motherboard u r using. very sensitive part ofcourse becoz once u have upgraded ur motherboard u will not want to change it and when u c there is a new cpu or ram or gpu that u can buy but ur mobo is not supporting and u have to change ur mobo and mobo changing means cpu changing, and maybe gpu and ram also changing if u r using very outdated parts.. so its a bit of pain

Now ppls may ask what chipset is good in the market.. well what a chipset do is integrate all the parts of the cpu and coordinate these parts... so that every parts in ur computer can communicate with each other very well..chipset also determines what is the maximum speed of cpu u can add what kind of ram u can use.. like G31 chipset cannot support more than 2 ram slot.. yeah only 2 ram slot.. so it is impossible to add another ram slot even if the manufacturer wants..u know some manufacturer like asus or gigabyte sometimes mod some of the things in mobo to have a difference from the other manufacturer..but if the chipset cannot support it they cant do it.. so chipset is the main thing of the mobo.. now which chipset is good in the market? it depends.. depends on ur price range becoz if i tell u that X38 chipset is gorgeous will u buy it? its 19000 taka i guess.. so depending on the price level u must choose ur chipset.. also it is related what kind of cpu u want to use or what kind of ram u want to use? how many hdd's u want to use? do u want integrated graphics chip in the motherboard? so buying a mobo means u have to determine what kind of things u r going to buy first.. then set a choice.. now a days mobo price has decreased a lot.. u can easily find a good mobo like p35 within 8500taka... also the overclocking things people have said a lot.. some chipset doesnt support official overclocking although u can overclock but it is not supported.. anyways if u r a overclocker then dont buy intel orginal boards.. i heard those boards doesnt support overclocking.. and if u want to sli ur only choice is nvidia chipset.. theres lots of chipset in the market like via and sis.. but i doubt they can be found in bangladesh i m not sure i didnt ask the vendors about the mobo when i last visited...anyways the choice is huge for mobo section but i want to remark some points so that it may or may not help u in buying a good mobo.

    1) dont buy the lowest or the highest price range mobo (if u really r not in need) it is just a waste either way.. always go for the middle one and choose one of ur choice..it should quench ur thirst

    2) always buy the highest bus speed ram that ur mobo support becoz it is easier to upgrade and it will probably wont be outdated so fast

    3) dont believe the configuration of integrated graphics chip in any kind of mobo... they are just crap.. if u r buying a mobo with interated graphics and want to play games in it then prepare for bad times..

    4) try to buy the chipset that support all the latest processors in the market that way u will be able to have a choice when u really want a upgrade in future

    5) if overclocking try to avoid intel original board

    6) if not sli-ing try to avoid nvidia boards ( dont flame me for this.. nvidia's board r pricey and in that price u will get other boards that support many things..and some nvidia board have some bugs)

    7) try not to buy those board which only support 1 or 2 ram slot.. becoz u will need some empty ram slots in the future when u r upgrading.. as ram prices so low ppl can upgrade it anytime..

    8) buy a micro atx board at ur own risk becoz some micro atx boards have higher chance to burn out..it may improve in newer chipsets

    9) configure the bios from the shop becoz it may be complicated for the begginners

    10) and lastly after buying the mobo come to me and give it to me .. oh also come with a redwine if u can..

    :-)

first i thought dat i m reading a story, then suddenly my maid came & gave me a cup of tea (u know, its my dream). so then i remember where i m...

ashol kothai ashi, multi-gpu with Nvidia is gr8 with EVGA, XFX. Asus also proven a gr8 comfortably with their chipset, for upgrading, Abit is da best, but i m using one, its not crap if u use all Fatal1ty comments like case, gfx card, sound card, etc, becoz its optimized for dat.

if ny one going for CrossFire i'll prefer Sapphire mobo, its gr8 with AMD chipset also new ones from XFX r gud with built-in gfx from Nvidia. Gigabyte mobo (x38, x48, etc) also have CrossFire as far as know. they rocks with latest comments like DDR3 1600, 1600 bus, EPU from Asus.

all though, if u want a budget gaming experience then go for a mid-range i mean value/mainstream chipset. that would gr8 for single card.

    thanx to redwine01!

i dont know about the abit but as it is nforce 610i chipset so yes it supports core2duo and quad core and even core2extreme processors.. it will support any kinds of graphics card in the market as long as it is pcie.. it has a single pcie slot.. the chipset is good. i dont know the price of the motherboard though.. within 9k u can go for G35 chipset board which is all good

    re: motherboard buying advice

U may look for Asus mobo with P35 chipset which may be at the 8/9 k range . It is also capable of quad core, c2d extremes, new 45 nm c2d processors and any PCI-E gfx card.

ABIT-N73V 7050/nForce 610i is also a very good one, supports all the latest intel processors. U may see detail infos about this mobo Here.

I think in 7,000~8,500 taka, GIGABYTE P35-DS3L should be the best choice for all. It has some certain quality. Though I don't know that is it still available in Bangladesh.

    Re: motherboard buying advice

    1. If you want to go for dual graphics card setup you should go for respective graphics chip maker's chipset. For SLI you should get an NVIDIA board. For Crossfire, get an AMD board. But remember while they support dual graphics card better(16x speed for both card) their CPU performance is a bit lower than Intel chipsets. Some intel chip support crossfire, but provide 8X speed to both card.
    2. Power consumption is lower(better) in case of Intel chipsets.
    3. In case of reliability best boards are Gigabyte, Intel. Worst are ASUS, MSI. Abit's M/B line has been shutdown.Buying Mercury is throwing the money away.
    4. Best integrated cards are in NVIDIA board. If you want to play games but can't afford to buy a good graphics card at the moment go for a NVIDIA chipset.
    5. Latest intel chipset X58 supports both SLI and Crossfire in dual 16X speed. Its also the most expensive M/B in the market. Its exclusively for core i7. It supports only DDR3 RAM. So the associated cost cost of this board is very high.
    6. Intel Chip prefixes:
G- For home entertainment, mainstream users. Will please majority of the users. Comes with modest support for all latest hardware. Integrated GPU.
P- For professional users. Same as G series, without integrated GPU.Best for gamers.
X- extreme M/B. Comes with all sort of fancy stuff. Unless you have a lot of money to burn(spend), or you must have the best of the best, you do not need this.NO integrated GPU.

In current market if you have a discrete garaphics card best mother board is P43, preferably from Gigabyte.
If you dont have a discrete card go for G45 or G43. minimum G33.

    i dont agree with that.
the integrated nvdia dont give more extra facilities than intel m.board
but intel is also not cheap.
so in low budget one should buy a gpu of low price, if he want to play games.
