    Graphics card support ideas needed

I am having to mount a decent cpu cooler to a gfx card and entirely the weight will go around 1 - 2 kg.. I have already bent few PCB's and the overall weight needs to be balanced out with some sort of support.

so anyone got any bright ideas? dont redirect to the powercolor vga support crap. its not available in NZ...

For some reason you look sad, I say that because your out of ideas. Thats one thing hellboy Dante is never out of...

I need a few better ideas to hold up a very heavy graphics card, else I'm screwed.

PowerColor Announces PowerJack Graphics Card Support Accessory :
TUL Corporation, a leading manufacturer of AMD graphics cards, today announced a professional graphics interface card supporter: the PowerColor PowerJack. As high-end graphics are becoming more powerful, the sizes are increasing as well as their weight. This poses a problem that gamers may not know they had. Owners of high-end graphics may be able to attest to the problem of the weight of the card bending in the case. A couple screws and the motherboard may not be enough to hold the heavier cards in place anymore.

This is where the PowerColor PowerJack comes in. The PowerJack supports the weight of the card from the back where it’s most needed. With its multistage extension function, it can extend its height from 61.25 mm up to 150 mm and it’s applicable to E-ATX / ATX / M-ATX motherboards and can be used in full tower, mid tower & mini tower chassis.

“The company is full of gamers and modders, so it’s no surprise that we discovered a need for a product like the PowerJack,” says Ted Chen, CEO of TUL Corporation. “High performance cards are not going to get any smaller, so we saw a need to bring this to market, where we know it will be fully utilized.”

Well Meraj, I am so sorry for the confusion, I am trying very hard to be a geek, but I think I am too old and too tired for that.

Dante, That powercolor crap, its not sold here, got any better ideas buddy?

but now I have this other problem, when I mount the heat sink the pc wont start, but as soon as i take it off, it works... (I have put newspaper underneath just to make sure nothing goes wrong......any ideas why?

There is no other way to support the card.
    Just order one from Newegg.com . http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814999028
otherwise u have to do welding inside cpu to fix the card. Trust me u don't wanna go through that ridiculous process.

choose one cooler from here. Forget that huge hitsink. Thats from dinosaur age.

carefully notice that what cards do the cooler support. u haven't told me a model yet.

use some thermal grease as well

That Powercolor jack thing...its got some bad reviews, I think I would carve up a small piece of acrylic or wood and go from there..

I just wanted to update you guys that the card is showing errors, after spending hours determining what is causing the :no display" issue..now I have red and black vertical lines on screen and card auto shuts off my monitors after post..one of the DVI ports have stopped working as well..very frustrating..

I got a torch, I can weld, but just dont see how I will be welding the graphics card PCB to the case here, I'm not entirely sure if that will work.
Well it easy. after inserting the gfx card on motherboard, where the thing puts all its weights? Downwards right? so weld a detachable holder there. The holder should not be welded with the motherboard but with the casing. There will be some mechanism in the casing to fix it there. get it?this way one side of gfx card will be open to air ventilation. if u want u can also put a stick to support the whole thing but its unnecessary.

Thats what u get for buying an nvidia! pain & frustration. Congratulation, u r a successful phermi member of nvidia family!

When u buy an ati card either buy only the simple version from Amd or xfx or Sapphire . nothing else. Gigabytes modded cards are not too famous for some reason. Shorting things? I don't think so, use something that doesn't carries electricity. Plastic or wood or plexi glass. u can use some lighting on that if u use plexi glass.

There will be a welding on the casing. We will weld the inserting points. So why the welding will break? The holding glass will be detachable. Use Plexi glass. They are pretty tough. Use bulletproof glass if u like......lol!

I think Dantes idea blend with mj's idea would suffice because the heatsink is unexpectedly large and I had to cut part of the casing floor to make it fit, even then it goes up to 1 inch from the bottom, so i had to make bigger feet..

I have some bad experience with gigabyte cards, they always break, I had few 9600GT's ( silent pipe edition.) all gone
